Opening the center for education of adults «Education for life» in sumy

On September 29, 2016 at one o’clock in the afternoon the presentation of the Center for Education of Adults “Education for Life” took place in the Congress Center of Sumy State University (Sumy, 9/1 Pokrovska St., room 213). The main purpose of the Center is the promotion of the concept of lifelong education for the city residents regardless their social class, gender, education, age, religion or nationality.

The opening of the Center was a natural consequence of the traditions of implementation of educational programmes for adults provided by the Center for Social and Economic Research and Academic Mobility (ARMG) UAB, created on the initiative of the Doctor of Economics, Prof. Tetyana Vasylyeva.

During October and November 2016 it is planned to implement two free educational programmes:

1. “Art in Public Space” (monitor – Rymma Mylenkova, Head of the gallery “AcademArt” of Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB” SSU). In frames of the programme it is provided to consider the questions dedicated to exhibiting the work of art outside the gallery (in offices, libraries, conference rooms); bases of design (including book art); rebranding library space; art of self-presentation; critical thinking.

2. “Theatre school” (monitor – Tatiana Niankina, Head of the creative organization “DykObraz”, director of the children’s theater “Artes”). Those who wish to take part in the work of school will have a unique opportunity to learn the basics of theatrical art; foster acting skills; develop imagination, communication and organizational skills; take acting lessons.

The third educational programme “Modern Photo Art” (monitor – Oleksandr Yershov, art photographer) is on a paid basis and will be launched from mid-October. The peculiarity of the training course is studying not only technical aspects of the work with camera but also the basics of visual culture. “Nice picture must be seen and no matter you do a professional photo on your camera or phone.” All that is needed for training (including camera) is provided by organizers! The result of the educational programme “Modern Photo Art” will be a solo exhibition of works of each participant.

Based on the results of the work the most active participants will have the opportunity to realize their own cultural initiative with financial support from the project organizers in November 2016.

Under the work of the Center “Education for Life” it is also planned to present public lectures and discussions for adults on the issues of Public Education and Social Science (for example, how to organize a successful advocacy campaign, media literacy in social networks, participation in projects of common funding etc.)

The Center for Education of Adults “Education for Life” was opened with a support of the German Adult Education Association (DVV International) and NGO “Information and Research Center “Integration and Development”. It was initiated by Sumy State University and NGO “Young Researchers Council”. The Head of the project is Yuriy M. Petrushenko, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of International Economics of Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “Ukrainian Academy of Banking” SSU, Chairman of NGO “Young Researchers Council”.
