On October 25-26, 2019, the forum-exhibition “Furniture. Interior. Design” was held in Sumy. It gathered participants and speakers from five cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Zaporozhye and Kharkiv. The Forum was organized by NGO “Council of Young Scientists” on the basis of the Sumy Business Information Center in the EU4Business EU initiative with a grant from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The event started with an exhibition and panel discussions. The participants discussed economical production, design, organization of dealerships, quality issues, how to sell expensive products, work with personnel and the role of the Ukrainian Furniture Association in the development of the Ukrainian furniture market.
Vitaly IVAKHOV from Zaporizhzhya, founder of „Spanish House“ and „100% Interior“ says: “This is an opportunity to communicate with furniture manufacturers, because I believe in success, of bringing the Ukrainian furniture manufacturers onto the international markets. Today Ukraine has opportunities for manufacturers of quality furniture”.
During the breaks the participants could get acquainted with the exhibition, which was located on the ground floor of the Congress Center of the Sumy Satet University and lasted 2 days.
The owner of the furniture business „Mr. Meblev“ Dmitry SALOMKA says: “We manufacture doors, stairs, cabinet furniture, such as kitchens, beds, living rooms, bedrooms. In February, it will be 15 years since we have been engaged in this type of activity”.
The participants of the event are mostly furniture manufacturers and interior designers. Taras SAVCHENKO, Head of Sumy Business Information Center, noted:
“We wanted to achieve three key goals. Firstly, to present the latest technologies for furniture manufacturers, as well as ideas and trends in the furniture business, in the field of design and interior design. Secondly, we wanted to organize an exhibition. It was successful. We wanted to show the best manufacturers of the Sumy region in the field of furniture business in the sphere of design. And thirdly – to consolidate representatives of the furniture business, to organize them.
